I rescaped my 75gal a few days ago because the old scape seemed rather cluttered, plus most of the plants needed to be moved in order to respond to the unexpectedly massive growth of my two main 'background' plants. I also wanted to check and make sure all of my fish were still, ah, kicking, since several of them are amazingly skilled at never showing themselves once unless the tank is basically empty... anyway, here's the tank information:

Equipment:
  • 2 X Eheim 2217 Classic Canister Filters
  • 1 X Jaguar Heater, 300 watt
  • 1 X Airstone & Airpump
  • 1X 48in T5 HO Coralife Light
  • 2X 12in T5 Lights
  • 1X LED Booklight (I use this as a noonlight)
Decorations:
  • Mixed Sand/Gravel/Anything That Sinks substrate
  • Bunch-o-Driftwood (between 3.5ft and 6in)
  • Various stones and rocks ranging from like 6in to 2in
  • some old seashells (sort of part of the substrate)
Plants:
  • 3 X Anubis Nana
  • 2 X Indian Red Sword
  • 1 X Anubias Congensis
  • 6-10 X Java Fern
  • 1 X Ludwiga Survivor
  • 2 X Hygrophila (these grew to be about 2.5ft tall in a 2ft tall tank, had to trim them, and they are the biggest reason for the rescape)
  • Multiple clumps/gatherings of Java Moss
Stocking:
  • 9 X Harlequin Rasbora
  • 6 X Neon Rainbowfish
  • 5 X Black Neon Tetra (plan to add 4 more)
  • 5 X Serpa Tetra
  • 5 X Assorted Cories (plan to add 3 more)
  • 4 X Black Skirt Tetra
  • 3 X Nerita Snail
  • 1 X Ghost Shrimp
  • 1 X Golden Rabbit Snail
  • 1 X Golden Dream Killi (female)
  • 1 X Female Molly
  • 1 X 'Common' Pleco (species unknown) (largest fish in the tank)
  • 1 X Sparkling Gouramis (smallest fish in the tank)
  • 1 X Rio Negro Pleco
  • 1 X Thomasi/Bulldog Pleco (have only seen this guy once, and that was when I did the rescape haha)
Before Rescape:

(remember that BOTH of the large plants in the picture are about double the size they are in this picture at the time of the rescape)
After Rescape:

And then I scared the crap out of both myself and the fish when I tried a nighttime picture - the flash was on "auto" lol

So, who prefers the new scape to the old one? I think it's much less cluttered and gives the fish a lot more swimming space.

Looks great! Much prefer the rescape. It's more open and brighter.

I have a clown pleco that I thought I lost some time back. That guy is amazingly adept at hiding - even in a sparsely decorated tank.

I don't know why, but it does look more natural IMO with the new scape. Definitely an improvement, nice job!
 :)

Thanks all!

@Kannan - Oh I know, preaching to the choir here! I have a pleco that's easily the size of my hand, but I only see it every so often despite the tank having basically no places for a fish that size to completely vanish in (I'd be able to see his tail, or should). But nope, vanishes for weeks at a time haha.
