After years of frustration using two API test kits, low range and high range, and getting conflicting results between the two, I finally bought a broad range liquid test kit. It measures between 5 and 9 on the scale and covers every contingency. I add mostly RO water to my indoor tanks and also have an outdoor pond, and it's nice to have a one size fits all test kit.
I was a afraid it would not be very accurate but to my eyes it's as easy to read even with the broad range, as the two limited kits were.
Maybe my poor color vision plays a role but the wife also seems to have no problem getting pretty accurate readings with this.

Does the broad-range test results jive with the API pH results?

Yes, it does seem to, but sometimes my high and low range test kits would disagree and I would not know which one to believe, and the overlap is sort of a grey area anyway.
I think this kit is good for someone with water in the 7ish ph range or with widely varying ph levels in different tank environments like me.
