Hey all! I'm in the market for a used tank. I'm potentially looking for something around 29 gallons to house an angelfish community tank (1 angel plus tetras or cories or something of the sort.) Anyhow, I found a decently priced standard tank and I also found an oceanic biocube (which is traditionally used for saltwater.) Which would be the better tank? I plan on growing low-light plants.

I think the dimensions of the standard 29g are better suited for angels than that of the bio cube. A 37g would be even better if bought during a $1/gal sale.

2nding the 29g.

I'd personally avoid a 37 (assuming the same footprint as a 29) To me they are too tall and can be difficult to aquascape (and grow plants at the substrate) there's low surface area for gas exchange and they are never included in big box chains $/gallon sales.

Edited to add...

I would be wary of the stand that comes with the 29, not enough support around the edges for my taste

Thanks for the feedback all, much appreciated! I'll likely going with a 29.

I was wondering about that. It looks like it was made for the tank but an aquarium manufacturer, but that doesn't make it invincible by any means.
