Hey guys later today i gonna be switching over to a play sand base for my oscar tank. Reason being i like the look better, and i found that one of my O's had taken a mouth full of gravel while getting food off the bottom and couldn't spit it back out and almost died. But yea hopefully ill have pictures of the tank with sand up tonight.

Sierra, have you tried oscars with sand? It can be done, but you'll need some dense sponges over your filter intakes, given the way Os like to bang around like a bull in a China shop, re-arrange decor and whatnot.

Mine takes in some gravel from time to time when trying to beat his severum tank-mate to little live shrimp snacks. He can spit the gravel, yet keep the tasty bits in.
