I always liked having these little snails. I was going to get some for the 10 gallon planted. My only concern is I didn't intend for it to end up planted, so I'm still using the medium sized gravel as substrate. A few of the plants are pretty well rooted by now, but the newer ones are still a bit loose. Furthermore, the hairgrass I got was of poor quality. After 100% initial dieoff, I have a few little patches springing up. The roots of that are definitely not established, and I find myself replanting 2 or 3 of the really small clumps every day. You think the MTS would make matters worse? or should I wait until the plants I have are established? Or should I wait until I have all the plants I want established before getting the snails?

I think the MTS would make matters worse, but not terribly so.

I'd wait till the DHG gets a little more established.

Ok so the question there is, do I simply wait until the existing grass is good, do I wait until I get more grass(from a better source) and that is established or do I wait until I finish adding all the plants I want? I'm thinking only 2-3 more types. Perhaps an anubias in back between the swords and ludwigs, a few more smallish somethings up front, and one fluffy/feathery something. Money how it is, it may be months before I get all that worked out. Don't mind waiting for the snails, but would like to get them sooner if I can. I almost wonder if it would be worth just getting all new grass and getting rid of any pieces that wont stay put.
