what is the smallest tank for a betta?

im wondering the world has said many different things about betta size tank some say half a gallon some say 10 gallon.but what do you say?

personally I wouldn't go smaller than 5 g so you can have filter and heater some deco so it looks nice.

but they do make some pretty nice tiny HOB filters for 1-5 gallon

the only filters i have got for a tnak smaller than a 5 gallon were about 4 inches high with some clear plastic tube so it could suck up water.and they only lasted about 6 months more often last.

the biggest tank i myself would put a betta in would be a 55 gallon.and i may know w alot of stuff about fish but i truly dont know what an over flow is.could you tell me?
