I was hoping to get a little help identifying these guys. It came to my attention that they may not be Barbus Denisonii but Chalakkudiensis. Their currently about 2" in length.

I'm not familiar with either, but based on pics I've seen online, it could go either way! It may take some weeks in your nice healthy environment for them to color-up properly. Then maybe you'll be able to tell more positively.

At my first glance, I thought they were flying foxes. LOL!

I think tank raised denisonis aren't as colorful at small sizes as wilds I've seen. Maybe diet? Hopefully they'll color up well as they grow with your good care as Joel said. I've read chalakkudiensis have a more downward facing mouth, shorter red line & get a little bit bigger. Time will tell.

Roseline shark aka Denisoni barb. I`ve seen some duller and brighter ones over the years. it also seems to be a diet and age thing too. the older ones look better

I had some a few years ago pre-move, likely wild caught. Really nice fish but a tiny bit nervous, they can be jumpers. I haven't read how captive bred coloration looks when adult. I did see something about "gold denisonis", a hybrid with a close relative, I think. I hope breeders are NOT going there, denisonis are so pretty, we don't need "gold" or "long fins"... or please not "balloon".

Yours do look like s. denisoni to me...I'll be interested to hear (& see) how yours color up, captive breeding is important to keep wild populations sustainable but inbreeding & mutations, meh.

Roselines. They will get more silver and the pink will become more pronounced.
