I've been thinking about putting together a native nano tank. I've done nanos before and I am familiar with the challenges of tiny tanks. Anybody have any stocking suggestions for tiny fish from the northeast/mid-atlantic?

i personally would be tempted to go with pygmy sunfish in a nano, but they are not from the mid-Atlantic as you requested.

Depending on tank size there are a lot of choices. Least Killies work and I have some if you are interested. Zimmermann's and Jonah's are both good. The North American Native Fish website may help.

Mosquitofish are pretty cool.

They're a bit drab in color, but they're very visible, active, and practically bulletproof.

Pygmy sunfish are also awesome, as stated above, if you can get them.

You might get away with one Gambusia in a nano, they are to aggressive with conspecifics to really be nano tank fish.

How nano? I've read you can keep a darter in as little as a 5 gal, but know little about them.

edit- just realised this post is half a year old ant the OP hasn't been back since creating the thread...
