Think it depends on the type...didn't have any issues in my 90 but the wood was/had been wet for 4 straight years...then added some clump stuff that I got free and when I broke the tank down 2 yrs later you almost had to use sandpaper to get it off....

This is the wood I have in my tank:

I have three pieces of this wood that has been in the tank for 2 years. Also it was soaking for 1 week, replacing the old water everyday with new boiling water.

Should I be able to use xmas or flame moss with this wood.

I just bought some mopani last week, and my LFS guy Elliot told me that if it's tied down, it will eventually root in mopani, but it takes a while.
