Quite a common but charming little species, originally hailing from Southeast Asia but now familiar in many parts of the world, including the southeastern USA... these guys are all over the Florida Keys. They eat any small insects they're offered, including crickets, mealworms, waxworms... they seem to also really love the moths that waxworms turn into. They change color quite strikingly, not only lightening and darkening but also intensifying their mottled patterns. The only major drawback to this species is that it's very difficult to work in their cage without them escaping. They are lightning fast and have amazing grip in those toes, allowing them to run straight up a wall or even across the ceiling, so once they escape, they arent often recovered.Flat tailed house gecko, Hemidactylus platyurus
