Anyone turn their filters off when feeding?

I have four Eheim 2217's on my 120gal and turn them off when I feed. When they go back on there's that 1 second rumble the impellors make until they are running centred (same noise all impellor pumps make at start up).

Does that cause a little extra wear and tear?

We turn all our tank filters off for about 30 mins while feeding, less food wasted.

We have not noticed any problems with the filters..canister or h.o.b. over about 15 tanks.

I turn off the filtration on my 55 at most feedings, just so everyone gets their share. My big goofy angel gets shorted otherwise. The only problem with powering down your filters is remembering to power them back up and making sure they actually fire back up! My pesky AC70s sometimes need an impeller kick-start to fire back up. That could be a serious risk IMO. Something to watch out for if you do this.

I never bother to turn off filters either. Actually, the currents they produce help transfer the food around the tank to the different levels of feeding. I suppose some food may make it into the filter, but nothing substantial.
