i will be starting up my 20 gallon tank again and will be putting shrimp in it.and i was wondering how to properly use cuttle bone.i have used it before but i didn't use it correctly i think.instead of just letting it sink and rest on the floor of the aquarium, should i crush it up into a fine powder and dissolve it in the water?
thanks ahead of time :)

Don't know as I use egg shells both ground into powder and chunked. If you take chunks of egg shells sink them in a shallow water container and place them under the lights algae will grow on them and the shrimp will graze there. Slowly the shells disappear. You can also use a little crushed coral.
