Trouble recharging seachem purigen

I have tried recharging my purigen and it won't turn white again it always stays brown after soaking in my bleach and water mix for 24 hours. I put 2 cups each of water and bleach and let it sit. Am I doing something wrong here? I rinsed it before soaking as well...

I've been using Purigen in all my tanks. I use a 50/50 mix of water and bleach (maybe a little heavier on the bleach). I have heard the packets don't necessarily turn back to pure snow white after a while. My last recharge the looked pretty clean, but not really white. I soak for 24 hours and then another 24 hours in a bath of water with a full capfull of Seachem Prime. My problem is they turn pretty brown in only a week or two.

How long have you had this batch of Purigen? Does this stuff have a lifespan after so many regenerations?

I have no direct experience. I don't use chemical media.
