I picked up and resealed a 10 gallon no-name stainless aquarium (like these http://www.rickwrench.com/index79master.htm?http://www.rickwrench.com/stainlessaquariums.html). It's very interesting looking and lends itself well to a bright planted tank. But I hadn't thought about the trouble I'd have finding a hood to fit. I'm currently using one of those glass hinged ones, but the inside top rim of the tank doesn't have a "ledge" like most do, so there's nothing for the glass to sit on. I added some plastic to the edges to the glass so it works and sits on top, but it's not great. I don't want to pay through the nose for one of the original stainless hoods, so I'm wondering if anyone has experience finding a cheap plastic or glass hood that fits over the top edge of these tanks, like maybe how those mesh reptile lids usually do. I've been using my tank with the ill-fitting lid for a year or so, and just lost three new fish on their first night from jumping :(. Either through a small opening by the filter, or by just slamming into the top and falling out. Never had a problem with other fish jumping through this lid though. Thanks!
