help gourami having floating problems...-

this little guy has been doing weird stuff for a few days, swims around fine and when it goes to rest a bit floats to the top hangs on its side for a while, looking like its gonna die and then after awhile swims around normally again......

i noted that its looking wider in the middle.........

what could this be? is there anything i can do for this fishy?

no, no pinecone scales.......

i asked about this in the lfs today and he recommended a plant with a c..........a green, tall plant that he said if the fish is constipated my releive it and that may fix the problem if it nibbles it......i figured it was worth a try............
