I need a small catfish, can be up to 1.5", that is a community fish. it can be an algae eater, anything, as long as it's nice to the other fish and is a bottom dweller, mostly.

Not many that fit that bill that will be happy solo...Oto, maybe, but even they prefer a bit of company, and can be tough to buy in good shape.

Pleco is a meaningless term--refers to a family name that doesn't exist anymore. The so-called common pleco is in the Loricariidae family now. There are very, very few--I can't think of any--true loricariids that stay under 5 inches, minimum.

What characteristics, other than size, are you looking for?

All plecos except ottos get bigger than 1.5"

I think the smallest fancy pleco is a zebra?? But I think they get around 2.5-3" and be prepared to shell out $$$$$ for them if you can find them. Is there a reason you need a 1.5" max fish? What size is your tank? Another small pleco is the clown but I still think that gets around 3-4"

Peaceful, will live without live foods, because I can't BARE. I don't have fast-flowing water, cuz I'm gonna get a betta. Should be able to get along with:
1 betta, 4 neon tetras.

I wanted them under 1.5" so I could get two.

I have LIVE plants, I don't know if that matters ;)

A trio of cories would be suitable--especially if you held out to find the pygmy variety.

Oto's would still be suitable.

I would agree with oriongirl

especially with the ottos (they eat algae and are fun to watch!). Plecos love some current or movement in their water (their suckers aren't for algae but to hold on to rocks in fast current!) Ottos like to be kept in groups too.

Take care
