I just got a blue palette tang that is very small, about an inch long, and it is rubbing against a brain coral and algae. Does anyone know why it might be doing this?

Do a Freshwater dip for 5-15 minutes if you think it might be velvet. The problem with velvet it that low salinity just makes it encyst and drop off. This is why you should try to always freshwater dip before adding a fish, just in case it's got velvet, because if it drops trophants in the tank, it could potentially force you to take all fish out of the tank for 6 weeks to let the parasite die off.

Thank you all for the quick reply. I will immediately give this fish a freshwater dip. After reading that article I'm terrified of what could happen if I don't do this right away.

well so much for the freshwater dip. The fish is impossible to catch and there are so many places for it to hide since it is only a little over and inch. But luckily the fish has stopped "flashing" and looks better. Maybe it was a little stressed from the trip home. Thanks for everyones advice.
