I just placed a 3x3x5 inch box filter with some filterwool and a Rena 200 air pump for a touch of added mechanical friltration... The pump is running at max bubble.

I was curious if anyone has a decent estimate as to how much water volume will be pulled through a box filter? It seems to be trapping a slight amount of particles. It's approximately 16" deep in the aquarium.

there are too many variables to be certain. among them are length of lift tube, diameter of tube, bubble size, siz of airstone, etc. To estimate you could put it in a different tank, add some aquarium safe dye at the intake, and see how long it takes to travel the tube and using the volume of the tube, calculate the GPH. then cut in half or whatever you deem appropriate to compensate for the volume of air.
