I bought two neon gobys yesterday and they dont figh and usally school together so I'm asuming they are a pair? They were in a 10 gallon condy anemone tank at my LFS. Now there in my 48 gallon reef with a scopas tang and gold stripe maroon clown. If they breed can the fry raise itself in the tank because in the caulerpa field nothing realing goes into it accepted pods or would a have to set up an open ocean tank with rotifers also were can I some or do I need to seed a colony to grow my own?

Depends. Most reef fish go through a planktonic stage, and are eaten quickly by other fish or killed in the pumps and powerheads. THose that survive spend some time floating aroun eating before morphing into a fish form, at which time they need tiny foods. I wouldn't stress about it--breeding in a community setup is seldom successful.

Neon Goby Website

In researching the breeding of neon gobies myself, I came across this website which might help you: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/jan2003/breeder2.htm

Alternatively, I'd love to get more input from people who have actually bred neon gobies or can direct me to more information. I currently have a pair (Male & Female) in a 10 gallon... they chase each other a little but also are displaying... hopefully it will only be a matter of time!

Any advice appreciated.
