I posted a thread on the General Forum regarding the fact that my water supply contains Nitrate at 80ppm and asked what I could do to remove it, the subject of reverse osmosis water was raised. I did a search on ebay and found the following product http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=301&item=4349732164&rd=1 is this the sort of thing I should be looking at?

Also I believe that I need to add some of the nutrients, etc back into water once it has been filtered (I have plants and fish), could I just mix it with tap water? Or is there a product I need to buy?

One more thing, are these units difficult to setup?

Apologies if these questions have been raised before.

The girlfriend will not be happy when I tell her am I splashing out more cash on the tank!!!

If you are concerned with removing the nitrates as well as water hardness, then you should definatly be considering a RO unit, possibly one with a DI as well, to remove the remaining nitrates that pass through the RO.

If however, your keeping fish that can do fine at higher GH/KH/PH, and are merely concerned with nitrates (and possibly other contaminents such as silicates, phosphates, etc) then you should look into getting just a DI unit. You have quite a few options if you go that way, with products such as KATI and ANI deionizers, as well as more properitary units such as poly filters.
