I caught a bullfrog tadpole in a pond this past summer with the intention to release the baby frog in the spring. In the past week, he has gone from a tadpole with hind legs to an almost fully formed frog.

How soon does my little froggy need to eat some insects?

What should I feed him for the next week or 2 before it is warm enough to let him go?

I live in Alabama, so spring is definitely here. . ..

will he eat fish food?

Red worms, fruit flies, crickets all of these you can buy at a local pet shop or bait shop.
You will need to place him in a tank or setup that allows for him to come on land and hide.
A great place to go is kingsnake.com and look up some info there.

since he's not so huge yet, be sure to ask for small and medium crickets at the LFS> If you try meal worms with him, be sure to crush the head first before feeding them (personally they gross me out and just thinking about crushing the head gives me the heebies)
