I have five mono argenteus. Every once in a while one will face almost straight down to the bottom while another one would come face to face with the first one. The mono doing the headstand would "wiggle" all its fins and the other would stay still. Other would approach and go face to face with the headstander. This would last about a minute at the longest then it would break up and they would go about like nothing ever happened this has been happening for almost a year now. I catch it every so often.
I was wondering if it was some type of breeding thing.

I have witnessed similiar behavior from both my monos and my scats. Knowing that they are marine as adults, I never considered that it could be a mating prelude. I always assumed it was more of a dominance display. Alpha-male sorta thing.

I am unaware of the sex of any of my monos/scats. Again, never considered it relevant so I never bothered to find out how.
