I just bought some nori seaweed to put on a clip to feed my tang. I dont know if its the right one. I got a green roasted one....Thats all they had. Also is there any special preparation for me to do before clipping it to feed? should I freeze the seaweed prior to feeding? where do I store the uneaten sheets? How long should I leave the Seaweed on the clip? Should I offer him this daily, weekly, monthly?

Thanks in advance

I've fed the green nori before; my tang seems to like it okay. I think he's happier with the red nori though. He eats both, but is more aggressive with the red stuff.

I usually soak my nori piece in tank (or RO) water. You can also add garlic or vitamins this way. If I'm not adding vitamins, I let it soak for about a minute and put it in the veggie clip. I never really get a chance to remove uneaten nori from the tank...because there never is any uneaten nori :) I wouldn't leave leftovers in there more than a few hours though. I store the remaining nori sheets in a ziploc bag in the fridge which seems to keep it 'fresh'. I feed my tang one piece of nori every day - the pieces are about 5"x2".

My nori sheets are about the size of a 8x11 paper. I quarter this off in to 4 even size sheets and then feed one quarter of the inital size sheet every evening. On weekends I feed one in the AM and one in the PM.

I take that 1/4 size sheet and fold it up again so its 1/4th the size and then put this in the clip. If there is any left I dont worry with it as I have not had it affect my water chemistry.

My nori is simply dried and pressed. I heard that the rosted stuff is less desirable as the process of rosting removes some of the nutruional content.

I got mine from an online health food store. I think they sell 50 sheets for like $8 or something.
