I'm thinking I'm gonna do FW for my 55, and I want preds. Does this stocking list sound good?

2 Senegal Bichirs
1 African Butterfly
1 Redtail Black Shark
1 Spiny Eel (maybe a Fire?)
1 pleco (not sure what kind)
some school or larger schooling fish (large enough not to get eaten)

  • Is this a good stocking list
  • Can I get more fish?
  • What kind of pleco should I get?
  • What kind of schooling fish?
  • The red-tail sharks at the LFS don't look very black, they are kind of dull like rainbows? Is this something that juveniles have? Is something missing from their diet? Can some one explain this?
  • If I can get more fish, what should I get?

Thanks in advance,
Freddy

IMO, the bichirs and fire eel could outgrow the 55. I'm not sure 2 mature bichirs would coexist in a 55 but never tried it. I think it's worth a try if you're willing to move fish if needed. Note also that you'd have various eating habits to cater to.
