Petco moving in the right direction?

I live closer to my lfs then to the local Petco so I dont go by there often but tonight I happened to be in the area so I stopped in. I guess they were having trouble with thier fish b/c they were not selling any of them except for the bettas due to the fact that they are in seperate containers. Well I went to go look at them and to my surprise Petco has started storing them in larger containers, at least larger then they were in the past. I dont know how large the containers are in other areas of the country/world but I would be interested to know if anyone else has seen improvements anywhere. These containers were even bigger then the containers at my local fish stores. I've attached a picture so everyone can see. They still arent very big but I still see it as step in the right direction or at least a company listening to the concerns of its customers. Just a thought.

The container is next to a 2.5 gallon tank.

I don know but the Petco locally near me has doen a complete redo. The hamsters and rodents have bigger cages and the fish tanks are large and not overcrowded. So far they have kept all their tanks clean and have a huge healthy selection. We'll see if they keep it up though.

I have had a lot of success with my PETCO in town, in fact, I would say they do a very good job here with the fish. I went in today to look and ended up buying some black skirt tetras. I was going to but some black neons, but the guy said they were being treated for ICK and he would rather I wait...I was very happy that he cared so much for the fish and me. The tanks are always clean and the fish seem very healthy. PETCO in my town gets two thumbs up.

same with the petco near me its uaually smelly and stuff but the store was really clean and the staff for fish atleast was very knowledgable ((SP?)) (i dont spell to good) this one kid wanted a Bala shark for his 40 gallon but the guy there told him his tank was much too small for one and diredted him towards fish that were of the right size AND compatability with the fish in his tank already i was pleasently surprised and also the tanks were clean and were not CRAMED with tons of fish

yesterday i was at petco and i saw those containers...

they were stacked three high, blocking off the little air hole for the bottom two fish. my boyfriend and i stood there moving them around to make sure there were no suffocating bettas.

and then today, different petco, fish in every tank were so covered in ick they looked more like soft pretzels. or perhaps the rim of a margarita glass. poor creatures ought to be euthanized. there should be laws to hold pet stores responsible for such neglect.

I'm going to apply for a job at petco soon and hopefully I can do some good with their fish department.

Petco by me does really good too. It seems like they take good care of their fish.

Local petco store in west Boston is great. Very clean, nicely maintained tanks, not overcrowded, and a number of tanks with fish not for sale--clearly being treated for something.

I had really bad luck with them and will never return. We purchased two spotted catfish from them about 2 weeks ago and they both died within 12 hours. When I returned them to the store the girl told me the whole tank of them had died overnight. I exchanged them for a small schoal of Tiger Barbs (6 of them) and they all died within 2 days. Our water was tested and it was fine. They all got covered in a fungus before they died. I was pretty iritated having to net out a total of 8 dead fish in the span of a couple of days.
