I do believe that there probably was a Noah's ark. I don't believe that he had 2 of every animal. (He probably had a couple of cows, sheep, pigs, dogs and such). There is evidence that there was a huge flood around the dead sea (maybe the black sea, or...somewhere in that area i don't remember exactly where) that probably resulted from 40 days of rain. It didn't flood the whole world though.
I'm pretty sure it's the Red Sea. Then again it might be the Black Sea. There are too many seas in that area to keep track of which is which. The flood story actually predates Hebrew religion and likely came about from a sudden influx of the sea into the once freshwater basin that became one of the inland seas.
My Lit class briefly skimmed this when reading Gilgamesh.
I don't think it was the red sea, too open to the ocean, so it shouldn't flood too much. I think it was the dead sea because its not actually a sea, its a big lake. The black sea has such a small opening to the med., that it may have been it, but I think it was the dead sea.
