Hello, all.
I am hoping that you can help me.
One week ago I set up a 30 gallon brackish tank (1.003 right now).
I am waiting for the tank to cycle so I can introduce Figure Eight puffers.
I added the water from an already cycled tank's filter for a bacterial source.
I occasionally added some goldfish food.
I tested my water for the first time today (note: I used a freshwater kit, don't know if that matters a lot) and the reading was almost zero (.5 Nitrate).
I cannot believe that my tank could possibly have cycled in one week when I have been reading and reading on this forum and in other places and heard it takes 4 to 6 weeks. Could it mean that the tank did not even begin cycling?
Help! I do not want to harm any fish I introduce to my tank.
Thanks.
