My paradise fish looks like its days are numbered. He is spinning like crazy when he moves around. Most of the time he is sitting on the bottom almost on his side. Is this disease that I will have to treat? Can other fish get it? and should I leave him in there until he dies?

Get him out of there as fast as possible and watch any other fish for symptoms. Whirling disease is 100% fatal (sorry) and goes into spore form once released from the fish. There is no known treatment for this disease. You need to get infected fish out to prevent its spread to other fish. Either euthanize or keep the sick fish alive in a hospital tank until nature takes its course.

this disease is not treatable. euthanize the fish ... there's little point in allowing it to 'linger' and suffer more than necessary.
