In Minnesota
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The List of Minnesota fish lists fish found naturally in Minnesota waters, including Lake Superior. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota is home to 158 fish species.
The species data on this page is taken from the Minnesota DNR, which also uses several labels to indicate a fish's status within Minnesota waters. An endangered fish species is near extinction in Minnesota, a threatened species is likely to become endangered within the foreseeable future, and a special concern species is either extremely uncommon in Minnesota or has unique or highly specific habitat requirements.
Several types of Minnesota fish are considered non-native invasive species. A prohibited invasive species is illegal to possess in Minnesota without a permit, and a regulated invasive species is legal to possess but still may not be released into public waters. Many invasive fish species are nonetheless already well-established.

Glofish
http://www.glofish.com/about.asp#science_1
Glofish is prohibited in California. Why can’t I buy GloFish® fluorescent fish in Australia, Canada, or Europe?
At present, Australia, Canada, and Europe prohibit the marketing of any genetically modified organisms, including our tropical fluorescent zebra fish, until they are cleared through a formal review process.
For Virginians:Please note that these fish may not be sold or transferred to anyone in the State of California, as this is prohibited by California Law. The producers of GloFishâ fluorescent fish request that all consumers respect this regulation. For more information about this issue, please visit www.glofish.com/california.asp.

In addition, gamefish may not be possessed alive (that means no channel cats, or bullhead, or bluegill, etc.)
There do not appear to be any laws about aquarium fish, other than the federal laws. I have found several areas that say aquarium and pond species are not regulated. However, that may be about to change, as they are working on the invasive species problem, and some species may end up banned over that.
