M. panacalus? Not much out there....they stay small, care/feeding is much the same as with the other spiny eel species. I have a couple that have stayed about 8" over the past 4 years.

One other thing, are there any other breeds of spinys that stay that size?

Probably, but none available to the trade that I am aware of...the striped peacock eel is probably the next smallest available.

Will it need sand or will small gravel do? How deep will the sand/gravel need to be?
