Has anyone ever had luck using two light fixtures on a glass canopy? I have a dula strip with two 40 watt bulbs and am thinking about adding a second strip which has one 40 watt bulb over a 52 gallon tank. Would this be a bad idea?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a great idea...why would you think it bad? The only set-up I use light fixtures on a glass canopy is a 15gal. You have to be careful with heat transfer though. All my lighting is over a glass canopy otherwise.

Would you guys also mind recommending an assortment of spectrums to have since I will have three bulbs over a 52 gallon tank which should be 2.3 watts per gallon?
Thanks

I have two triple-tube lights over my 65 which gives me 6 25-watt bulbs. All are the same spectrum, 8000k. I don't think it would be too problematic to have a mixture, but it would probably be best to keep them consistent.

I have 2 6700k/10000k 65w over my 55, and I'm adding 2 strip with two 34w 4300k bulbs. I couldn't find any higher spectrum at the store, and I figure it will still work.

yeah i think one 10,000k bulb and one full spectrum (6500-6700k) bulb is your best bet. looks nice and all light is beneficial to plant growth.

I have an oddly shaped flat back hex tank. Do I have to have a glass canopy between the light strip and the fixture? Does anyone know where I can find a full glass canopy for a 52 gallon flat back hex tank?

Whatever Ks you finally settle on, the tank will look best with the lower K over the front and the higher K on the back of tank.
