Im setting up a 55 gallon with livebearers and plants, using an Eheim 2028 filter.

I still need to purchase heaters for the tank, but there seems to be some differing advice on what to use. Do I use 1? 2?

Also, are there any good heaters using digital thermometers/controls? That would take some of the guess work out i suppose.

2 is normally your best bet. That way if one quits out the other one will keep the keep the temp. decent until you realize.

ok, so generally you would probably use a 300w heater for a 55 gallon. If i went with 2, should I get 2 of those, or two 150 or 200 watts?

On tanks over 30 gal, I split the required wattage between two heaters.
