Hello,

I was just thinking about automating my lighting. First what should I use for lighting? Halids, florecents and moonlights?

I was going to find or design a controller that would turn on/off, dim/brighten the lights according?

Does anyone know of anyone who has one available? and what types of loads will it control? different lighting will require it to be controlled differently, ie some may not be able to be gradual on/off.

Some lights may be controlled via pulse width control.

Thanks for your ideas and input

I was thinking of doing that with my lights, but with my lights it's harder to do. I would suggest Compact florecents or such because of the turn on rate for them, halides take forever to get going. as for a pre build autmization system, That I dont know. but there's several DIY things around here I believe

I just bougt a light made my current. It is a Current Orbit. It has two power compatcs. Each power compact is controlled by a differnt power cord. Also, it has moonlighting built in with a 3rd power cord. I leave the moonlighting on 24/7 because theya re just led and I have two timers for the other lights. one power compact comes on and goes off an hour before the other to give a sunrise/sunset effect. The light came with it's own timers. It is a very nice lighting system.
