i have a small catfish that has black and white stripes down the length of its body. i don't remember what kind it is and i want another one. i will try to get him to come out long enough to get a pic.
any suggestions to what kind it is?

Fishcatch22 is right. It's a Striped Raphael Catfish, also known as the Talking Catfish (Scientific Name: Platydoras costatus).

I've heard about these guys.......from anyones experience, do they make noise that is audible outside the aquarium or why are they known for talking catfish?

I have never housed these personally, however, I have heard that the noises that they make are quite loud actually and can be heard from outside of the tank. Amazing, really...
