driftwood growing a beard???LOL

Hi to all at AC.

Maybe you guys can help...
After setting my first 29gal freshwater tank and running 8 days into cycling, I started to notice "white fluff" growing from my driftwood.

Is this something to worry about? :help:

Yes, I did boil it, but I've came across posts where the same thing happened to others (they also boiled there driftwood)and according to them it will go away by itself? I do hope so.

Oh, I got from a field near to where I live. Was that a wrong move?

I agree... it will go away on it's own. Nothing to worry about IMO.

it should be gone by the time the cycle is finished. beneficial bacteria outcompete fungus.
 
I'm jealous. I've grown every single kind of algae under the sun and a few previously undiscovered varieties, but I've never grown a fungus before. It's amazing the stuff that grows in our tanks sometimes.
