M-Land 360 C VS Sunsun 350

CWO4GUNNER

USN/USCG 1974-2004 Weps
OK even though I don't need another canister filter, I will once I build my yard pond as Ii will be taking away one of my FX5's this spring. So what better time to buy a low cost replacement. Even though I have heard of a few problems with the M-land C series I have still wanted to try one but could not see paying over $200 when I could buy another FX5, sort of like deciding between a klingon battle cruiser (C360) and a Galaxy class starship (FX5) for the same price.

But after much research I may have found much better alternative to both, the Sunsun 350! Research has yielded allot of positive reviews and witnesses that have compared Sunsun 350 with the M-land C series to have many interchangeable parts. There is even speculation that they are the outsource manufacturer in South East Asia where they are very popular.

OK, so even though I am a big believer in circumference filter technology, I also know that a bigger inline footprint on a basket filter may be a good alternative at over 100 SI, especially at such a great price.

So for the price of a tank of gas $59 shipped, Im going to give the Sunsun 350 a try which my be more then just a clone, but the actual outsourcer.

:clap::thm:

if it works any where close to the catalina's I have it'll be a good deal.
I may look to try one myself as this one looks to be perfect for my 29's.

i am considering switching all my 29's to canister filters.

I have one. They work great. Only negative comment I have is that the spray bar is made out of schintzy light weight plastic and its very small diameter. This is a simple mod to replace. Only other criticism is that it does not have the lifting handles like the c360 has. I have had no difficulties with mine at all.

OK, you got my curiosity, what do you have on your 29's now?

Gunner why are you throwing your FX5 out in the yard? How about a hydroponic veggie garden/bog filter for your pond? Aquarium filter plastics don't like the sun.

Your telling me when I live in SW Arizona LOL. Yup almost any plastic turns to dust including RV vent hoods if they are not made of metal, even resins in fiberglass. But at the same time just about everything else stays preserved becasue of the low humidity, and even most plastics blocked from UV last no problem.

No I wasn't planning on leaving it exposed in fact I wasn't even planning on using it's pump but using something with more head pressure and GPH probubly 1200. Ill be fabricating some sort of cardboard and fiberglass hollow rock that will keep it covered. That's one thing I like about the FX5 its very modular and its pump is actually exterior.

Oh common now you know you want one LOL.:lol2:

Got two, but I keep'em in the warm and friendly confines of my fish room. Just curious, since you obviously never met "well enough" and you sure as heck can't leave anything "alone", what sort of genetic engineering have you carried out on the FX?

I was serious about the bog filter instead of the FX (better and cheaper in most respects - especially if you're lookin' at switching out the FX pump). Although I can't say as I've ever seen a bog filled with cactus and tumbleweed. How do you even keep a pond from disappearing there? I'd expect to walk out in the morning and just see a big salt & mineral stain with fossilized fishies. ;)

Oh cool just the person I need to ask, so how do you like your two Sansuns, working out well in the fish room I gather?
