Brackish Snails Question

soo... I have a partially brankish setup:
- 25 gallon cube, 1/2 part-brackish water, lots of rocks/plants
- 3 mudskippers
- 4 night gobies
- 2 black mollies

and I can't get any get any snails to survive in it...

I have a slight-brackish community of guppies and mollies (feeder-breeders) and a couple large mystery snails (and a few smaller) that seem quite healthy.

I heard that there are brackish-bred snails out there? But none of the 6 petstores in my city had any, or had had any in a long time... Is there a way to do this? Is someone reading this who livees near me?

does anyone know a bizarre algae-eating goby? I can always raise the water level again (lots of perches/space still)

I've been keeping olive nerite snails in mid brackish for about a year now with no issue.
 
It meens that I have about 13 gallons of brackish water (slightly less than "brackish", as recommended for mudskippers)... above that I have rocks, plant, and driftwood perches where they spend 90% of their time sunning/watching the action in my living room.

I saw some nerites for sale pretty cheap on "arizona aquatic gardens" does anyone have experience getting from there?
 
oh, and don't know SG, just take it in to be (free) tested every 2 weeks ("fine" past few months)
 
I've heard bad things about AZ gardens. I'd check the classifieds here first.

Sorry, I forgot that you had skippers so I get what you mean.

I'd get a hydrometer or refractometer so you know the exact SG as its nice to know. Its not something you need to monitor all that often (brackish species are used to varying salt levels) but its better than just getting an okay from your LFS.
 
I have Olive nerites, Maylasian trumpets, ramshorns, bladders and a couple mini viviparous snails in a SG that fluctuates between 1.008 and 1.012. Are you sure there is not some other reason the snails are not surviving? Your SG must be pretty darn low if you have brigs surviving in it, as they are generally very, very sensitive to salt. What kind of salt are you using?

I am kind of wondering if it is even enough to be considered brackish. Any possibility of getting a translation on "fine?"

I love my zebra nerites. they are doing amazing my my brack tank with an sg of 1.006/7 ish
 
FYI, brackish is any water with salt in it as long as it's less than full saltwater. That's a big range. I'm guessing you've got something less than 1.008? I second the motion to get a hydrometer! It might not be as essential to keep close eye on it as it would be with saltwater, but you do need to know what it is at every water change.

Nerites are a good option, and I have also heard that AZ aquatic is not good. Arakkis has very nice nerites and will help you get one that is brackish, just send a PM. Mzjinkzd also has nice inverts, but I'm not sure what's she's got right now.
