Just a little something I am currently working with. I'm still fairly new to livebearers, swordtails in particular, so I'm not sure if there is anything like these guys out there or not. I haven't seen them, but like I said I am still fairly new. There are two black 'piebald' and one orange 'piebald'.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I have bred different types of swordtails and those dont look anything like any stage in their life, even the fry. The body shape and eye size is wrong. They look like mutant platies to me. Could be a hybrid of some sort. It also looks like you have all females, so unless they were "hit" already or they are too young to tell, you probably wont be getting much breeding. What did you purchase them as? They are very striking looking fish, I love the colors and patterns on them, I'm just not sure they're swords.

You will almost never see a "real" Swordtail or Platy in a pet store. The various Xiphophorous species interbreed pretty much indiscriminately. The Swords and Platys you normally see in LFSs are the result of multiple hybridizations.

neat looking but they look like they have clamped fins..

I was wondering the same thing with a couple of them, they don't look very healthy. Hopefully that's not the case. That said they are pretty, but look more like platies to me.
