First off let me start by saying that lighting for tanks is very confusing to me haha. I have a 20G tank with Java Moss, some Java Ferns, Water Sprite, and Dwarf Hair Grass. I was hoping someone could either tell me what light I would need or link me to the light I need (18 inch light).
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Justin

I agree, retrofitting a 24" standard strip to incandescent sockets in order to accommodate two CFLs would probably get you the most bang for your buck. Incidentally, I am selling one, if you're interested...I'd be glad to toss in a few Sylvania micro-mini CFLs, also!

Thank you to both of you but with my luck the 20G turned out to be a leaky tank...
Now I'm back to my 10G, this one has a duel light hood, any suggestions for this one?

If you want one light for both tanks you can buy one of the cheap T5, by zoomed, I think there is a 24inch version for around 50 bucks with mounting wires to hang over the tanks, or sliders to stick directly over your 20 gallon. The bulbs are 12 bucks each for flora grow bulbs. It's the cheapest "higher end" T5.....that is only if you want to upgrade a little and try some T5 lighting. I used the steel mounting wires they give you and custom made a wooden "trestle" so the T5 could hang over both of my smaller 10gallon densely planted tanks.

It has two places for bulbs, one on the left and one on the right.

I clicked on the Google link and that's what everyone is above is talking about. Two CFL screw-in bulbs and your good to go. You may be able to find some linear screw-in cfls (Wal mart used to have them) if not, at least get the 65k or 67k bulbs.

The Lights of America bulbs that Walmart sells have a perfect aquarium spectrum, not too pink and not too yellow. They are only about $5 a piece. I had a Hagen GLO dual T5 fixture over my 55 gallon, and believe it or not the 108 watts of 6,700k light didn't look as good or as bright to me as 4 of these 10 watt bulbs!

I don't like having the feeding door on those 10 gallon incandescent hoods, I prefer the full hood setups which have a lid that goes the full length of the tank. However it's not so bad...just take the hood off if you need to work in the tank :)
