New with catfish Need Help

Long story short: My buddy picked up a blue channel cat not
knowing their long term size. At the present time it's approx
10". So he gave hime to me for the time being, as I have a bigger
tank. Now,there is all this fuzzy **** floating in my tank. What is
this stuff?, and how do I get rid of it?, and is it preventable?​
 
IDK, what's the channel cat "doing" to cause that fungus? We had a marble channel cat years ago & "she" never had that issue...eating a ton & crapping out a ton of waste (or maybe eggs?) but no pink fungus. Water params?
 
Is the wood new? Some of my new driftwood also got that fuzz. I just cleaned it off and it went away after awhile.
 
No the wood is old, & water params are perfect.
This happened over a two day period.
I guess ill just do some massive wc and see if
that helps.
