I set up my aquaclear 110 and it makes NO noise at all. I get up in the morning and look to make sure it is still on. And I only sleep about 8 feet away from it. I am a true convert. Amazing.

Welcome to the dark side....muahahaha. No really...I love mine for the same reason (and many others). My cat's automated drinking fountain is louder than my aquaclear 
You are lucky...I went through two 110s and both were a bit too noisy for the location of my tank. Though it isn't exactly loud, it isn't silent like my canisters. I loved having one though, great filter it is. All other ACs that I have (20, 2x 50) are perfectly silent.

I have a tetra whisper filter, it's also quiet unless you stick your ear against the aquarium LOL... aqua clears are like the Lexus of the aquarium filter trade
