40 Gal Planted

Haha yeah :p i checked the tank after work and the eggs were eaten! I don't think they were fertilized anyways. But on a better note my hc seems to be coming back slowly. Im having problems with brown algae on the glass and on the leaves of my plants. It looks like a brownish soot i guess. Also on my amazon sword its growing hair algae

Hi Danny,

Before I bought my pressurized CO2 system I was injecting CO2 via a DIY and I did not get that perfectly correct it was not producing CO2 as expected, I put in less yeast, for me it was a temporary thing as I had the pressurized system coming, but I have seen some people grow HC with a good DYI and it can be done so you can give it a shot till you have your pressurised system in place.

Another thing I have read of some sterling results from dosing Flourish Excel, HC seems to love it, perhaps you can give it a go I am dosing Excel Flourish too.

You know about lighting and you read about temperature on my thread re LED.

My HC seems to be recovering and carpeting a bit but I don’t know if it is just my imagination :), I am certainly far, far from expert on this and struggling with HC as well, but from one struggling aquarist to another, just trying to help.

For you algae problems try getting some Ottos for your brown algae and Amano Shrimp for Hair Algae.

Broxton, If you are asking me about Ottos, they are small catfish and are very peaceful.

Here's a little update!
I got some red cherry shrimp for my tank but i rarely see them lol. I got rid of most of the HC but some of it has made a comeback. I added some driftwood and some moss to the tank. Other than that nothing has changed. I do have an algae problem though. I can't seem to have it go away.
