I bought a convict from the store the other day and he isnt white like the pictures i've seen hes also not full grown yet and i can see his striples starting to turn black, how long does it normally take for the white and black to be very vivid?
 
its a convict. looks female too.. orange on stomach is female, no orange is male. as she matures, her colors will brighten and stripes getting darker.
 
looks stressed let it settle in for a bit and its colors should come out.
 
Yeah that's sorta what ibwas thinking, since this post her fins have turned blue and more orange has come up around her stomach. So I'm just waiting for the white and black to become more vivid, she's happy but she needs a new cave since my pleco and rainbow shark sorta took over the one I had for her.
