i had 80-90 albino cories hatch in their net box i had placed in my tank after transferring the eggs on june 6th. now i only have SEVEN that ended up living. so i have two groups of questions, and i'm hoping someone can answer them...
#1: i read something on the internet about not needing to feed them special or different food than i had been feeding the adult cories (that they are scavengers so they would even just eat like flecks of food that would drift into their net), so i put in a couple sinking tablets every few days. but every few days when i would check on them, more and more were gone. not dead, but just GONE! no bodies, just disappeared. i have to assume they ate eachother. anyway, now there are only 7 of them left. they seem to be doing well though, one thing to mention is that one of them is much smaller than the others... like twice as small (no big deal, just mentioning). so i guess the question is, was i wrong to feed them regular food? should i have fed them something else? my cories lay eggs sometimes, so i would like to know what to do for the next batch. i also have this pond snail infestation and i noticed a few of those snails were in there... would the snails have eaten the babies?
#2: how long should i wait until it's ok to give them away? i told my boss she could have a few. they are almost a month old and a little over an inch long now. i am nervous to give away (partially because i honestly don't want to let them go, because they are my babies that i raised myself!). but also is there a safe age or size to be transporting them?
