Im getting back into saltwater and Im currently trying to decide just what to do. I was considering a 14g biocube but I dont think thatd be enough room for what I was planning (2 Clarkii Clowns, watchman goby/pistol shrimp). If I dont do the biocube Im considering most likely a 29gallon aquarium. At first I would only do FOWLR but would add some anemones later on. My setup would be 200W Marineland heater, maxijet 600 powerhead/pump, 30lbs of cured Live rock, 30lbs of live sand, and as for a filter, probably just a simple Aquaclear 70 or 110. If I decide to go with the 29L Id Probably do 2 Clarkii Clowns, Watchman goby/pistol shrimp and something else; nothing big just something different.

What would you guys do? I know big is always better but I kept a 10G going good for a year and a half so :/

And I just realized the title doesnt match the thread but if I do decide on a SW ill post all the pics here for ya's

14 would be pushing it IMO, I would go with 29 standard glass tank over 28 or 29 bio/nano cubes, the maxijets are kinda big though, koralia nano 450 is what I'd go with, 1 I guess would be ok for FOWLR, a second one when/if you start adding coral. You'll want a skimmer eventually too.

A 29 isn't going to be big enough for a pair of clarkii. I would recommend you consider a 55.

He's right, I thought clarkii's got just a hair bigger then perc's looking up info I didn't realize they got as big as maroon's.

Well the issue is my shelving is 36x18 so I could get a 50 but then id have to buy all new equipment too

I'd just go with the ocellaris or percula's good temperment, and they have the most color options. If you want something a little different maybe barberi's they look kind of like tomato clowns but smaller 3.5"ish

Well I just picked up the 29g. A local fish store sells already cycled saltwater for like 5$ for a 5g bucket. So Im gonna buy 6 buckets, then im gonna add the sand (50lbs) and live rock (40lbs) and then Im gonna let it mini cycle for a month. Then after that im gonna add pistol shrimp/yellow watchman goby. Two months in, Im gonna add a clown (i dont know what type yet) and then if possible do you think I could buy a copperband, until it gets bigger and then give it to my friend? He has a 300+ gallon (dont know the exact type), he wants a large one, and I want a small one so its a win win.

Equipment:

Aquaclear 50 and/or Aqueon 55/75
150W Marineland heater
Maxijet 800 pro powerhead
(Still looking at skimmers)

I was thinking about getting a 1 incher and then when he gets like 5" id have to move him to a bigger tank. I just won 20lbs live rock for 10$ on ebay. Great friggen deal. Im excited to get this rolling
