Wow. You have a lot to learn.

Fish thrive in their natural water conditions.
Did you mean to quote me?

Staying on this topic...while I agree that fish can adapt to different pH/GH/KH levels other than their "natural" one, there are limits. Trying to get a fish to adapt to any different level is going to be stressful no matter what, and the bigger the difference the more stress.

Of course this all depends on the OP's current conditions.

Oops. My bad Jpappy. Meant to quote the kid I was arguing with about mixing cichlids.

if your breeder breeds the africans you get off him at p.h. 7.0:===
then upping the p.h for africans would be like puting a zoo-born elephant back in the wild.

so water conditions wouldn't as much matter.

agression would be the thing.
no with auratus, i dont care if yours is right now not agressive.
when maturing it will get agressive .its their natural instinct.

the labs and aceis and bgk might work. but nobody will be comfortable.
dont be suprised if it doesn't

yes they are a cool mix. but that doesnt make it work.

if you try good luck. but i feel sorry for the fish

i would get a bigger bgk than africans

well if you get it from a breeder, how would putting it back to its "wild" conditions be ok? placing a fish from a pH of 7 into something around 8 for the africans is going to stres them out, unless acclimated very well, no matter what their natural environment is like...remember that a jump of 1.0 is alot seeing as it is logarithmic

Keep the thread on topic please.

My opinion? Mbunas are not community fish so definitely no is my answer as far as the mbunas and BGK together is concerned. Other cichlids could work but not with extremely belligerent cichlids.

Wow. You have a lot to learn.

Fish thrive in their natural water conditions.
I never said anything about thriving, I just said living.I think they could live together, but not thrive. There would be alot of confrontation, but I doubt any fatalities would occur.

no that wont work you need perfect water conditions and the cichlids would tear it aapart like that you only need a 55 gallon to keep them anyway

did you reaad what i said -- i would'nt do it not would .

i still don't know how you are saying i would when that was the WHOLE F-ING POINT

a bgk can live / thrive in p.h. 7.0 and africans who were born in it could thrive too

please read it properly before making stupid accusations
