Alright, so there was a tank sitting in the library at the college I attend. It was in horrible condition (see pictures below.) So I talked to the librarians there and figured out who to talk to. Talked to the head librarian, and she gave me the go-ahead to do the tank, but had to keep it minimal budget, to get someone to sponsor it. Long story short, I got a LFS to sponsor the tank :headbang2: I can pick up the supplies Monday or Tuesday, when the compact-florescent light that they're special ordering gets in! I'm so psyched! They're 100% paying for all the new equipment and livestock and plants! I'm SOOOOO happy!

Anyways, onto picture, here is what I've done so far...

This is what it looked like before I did anything to it.

This is the 15th bucket of water, I had to add in extra water to get all the crap out, it was so bad!:wall:

After 1 1/2 of working in the library, and getting lots of strange looks, It was a heck of a lot cleaner!

I'm going to see if the store would be willing to give us some eco-complete or something for it, but if now, whatever. They're already giving us so much! This is going to be such a fun tank, and for me, FREE! :grinyes:

Also, when I leave the school, I either have to find someone to take over after me, or tear down the tank... the library said I could have it when i leave ;) (I will offer the light and stuff back to the store obviously)

I've thrown in some used media from my tanks to get the cycle going! I can't wait to get this tank up and fully running! :dance2:

P.S. I didn't see a 'user journal' section, so I'll just post it here, let me know if there is a better place to post!

A great project!

um, nice i guess, the tank look horible. i would do the same thing

Thanks for all the comments!!!!!!

you could start a blog as well...
How would I do that?

Were any animals in there?

No, there weren't. There were at one point in time, but "they all died and the science department tested the water and it was fine." But there were lots of things wrong. I.E. a 25watt heater, for a 20g tank, in a building that is known to fluctuate a bit... and 4" of gravel... and minimal to no water changing, lots of stuff! Now it will be a wicked planted tank
