Some have rumoured that the source to her power are two little red balls which when placed near to her torso transmit a cosmic wave of energy into her soul.

I think there is a photo of her absorbing these cosmic waves somewhere around here...
 
BTW, they eat detritus..mostly decaying plant matter , they also feed on algaes.
and they can get quite large..I've seen them in spring creeks as long as a thumbnail width.(yes 3/4" long)
