I was given a 10 gallon setup by a friend who explained to me that he never took care of it but thought that I would.

When I got it, the water was an incredibly disgusting and smelly cloudy green. I spent about 3 hours cleaning it out completely, got fresh water in it, etc. I'm going to pick up a test kit tonight since the cycling has basically started over as far as I'm aware.

I've been lurking for a little while but just registered yesterday. I know already that I need a larger tank as this one is overstocked.

It has...

1X bubble eye goldfish
1X cory catfish
2X gold mystery snail
3X some very small shrimp
4X kuhli loaches, 2 black, 2 leopard

And now, pictures. I'm going to take some pictures of the tank as a whole tonight.

Hey! I like that idea with the zuchinni!

lol, I got home from the grocery store and dropped a slice in the tank. It was at that moment I realized why they use a weighted clip at the LFS.

I didn't have one so I had to get creative. :D

I was also thinking that I should unscrew one of the overhead bulbs. The tank is actually quite bright, much more so than a lot of the other tanks I see here on the site. There is no truly dark spot for the loaches other than underneath the large chunk of petrified wood. :(

Beautiful gold Brig. Cute shrimp. Great pics. The fish look healthy to have been in pretty bad tank conditions. You've done a great job cleaning it up, and kudos to you for planning to get a bigger tank.

Welcome to AC! You're going to be a great addition to the community.

Thanks for the welcome and compliments :).

I went out and bought some dechlorinator and some test strips. Our water is very hard (GH 160-180, KH 200-220) but everything else so far seems good. NO2 appeared to be 0.2 or 0.3 ppm and NO3 appeared to be around 30 ppm. From what I've read, tap water has around 20-40 ppm of NO3 anyway. I've begun keeping a log of my daily test results.

Here are some pictures of the tank itself from a wider view.

Also, the two smaller shrimp seem to be missing. They either disappeared into the briny deep or became an excellent snack for the loaches. I'm sure they disappeared into a crevice though. Either way, they were cheap. :)
