Describe you first fish tank (photo if ya have it)

Back around 1963 I got a 10 gal metal frame with the standard corner filter with the floss and charcoal powered by a little air pump. I got white silica sand from the empty lot next door. ( See how long I've been using white sand ? :) ) . I lived on a brackish water canal and caught all kinds of fish. My favorite was when they opened the flood gates the water hyacinths would fill the canal and would be full of mosquito fish. I also walked along the seawall in the water at low tide and would catch gobies with a clear jar. I would place the jar next to a rock and lift it up and chase the gobies into the jar.
I was around 8 years old. :)

ten gallon tank, 2 goldfish, one mine one my brothers....then we caught the crayfish...then when the fish had half their fins left my dad set them free in a river. i musta been 6.

My first aquarium was one of those typical 10 gallon kits that I got when I was 7 for Christmas. It had ugly bright yellow gravel, fake plants and a SW coral scene for the background. My dad helped me set it up and I guess he read the manual wrong because we used distilled water and kept wondering why the guppies died within 5 minutes. After a few puzzled fish deaths we found out we're NOT suppose to use distilled water and fixed the problem.

My first fish tank, not including the 5g I got as a kid because I barely remember it and I never took care of it, or the millions of bettas that I killed in little bowls, was a 10g kit I bought with my Christmas money when I was 14. It had incandescent lights (ew), mostly black gravel with a hint of blue gravel, two live plants (has no clue what they were), no background, no decor, a really sucky 10g filter.

I had bought 3 goldfish, one red car oranda at first. His name was willy wonka. Later I went to Petsmart and bought a black moor, named Jack Sparrow, and a normal orange fantail that I named Johnny Depp (See a theme here?). Well, Johnny Depp died in about a month, I wonder why? (Lol, I KNOW why now!). And the other two lived for years! They got bigger, but they never grew to their full size. Eventually my filter broke. What happened was my Goldfish destroyed my plants, the plants got sucked up the filter, and the filter jammed. The filter was so quiet before it broke that I never noticed it was actually broken for quite a while. Then the water smelled horrible, the fish died, and I wondered why my water was a yellow-green color. When I took the tank apart to clean it I realized what had happened! I still have the orignal tank, light, and stand (which houses two bettas today!), but I ditched the filter. It didn't work after that anyway.

This is the only picture I have of it. Apparently I didn't care so much about fish back then as I do now. I cropped out this horrible picture of me at 15, so all you see if the tank. I might have another picture of it, but not on my computer, so I don't feel like looking for it and scanning it.

My dad always had huge fishtanks when I was little that I got to help with, I guess that sparked my obsession. The first I can remember actively taking care of was a 250ish gallon with oscars, jack dempseys and green terrors. My dad would stand me on a chair with some worms and the oscars would jump up out of the tank to get them. Thinking back probably not a bright idea since my hands were pretty bite sized but whatever lol!

my first tank was a little yard sale tank only 3 gallons and more tall than wide, i had a bubble wand and nothing else, went for a week with nothing than my pap brings me these three 6 inch comets (tank was about 6inches thick) and within a week the fair was in town, buy the end of the week i had those three big ones and about 30 of those little tiny fair fish.
